Welcome to St Joseph’s Parent Teacher Association!

At St Joseph’s, the PTA is working closely with the teachers and the parents to help raise funds to improve still further the learning experiences at school for our children.

Through events that are fun for the children and are enjoyable social events for parents and grandparents, our goal is to raise funds for the here and now – things our children will enjoy and benefit from immediately.

In the last two years we have raised vital funds for a new classroom fit-out, playground equipment and musical instruments. We have made a significant contribution to enable raised beds to be put in the garden area to support the curriculum on Friday’s which is all about getting in touch with nature and learning about growing plants and vegetables. We also fund the coach hire for the all-school trip to the pantomime and the Year 6 residential, and we regularly fund or part-fund coach hire for year group trips, helping to reduce the overall cost of each trip for parents.

We run two school discos each academic year, organise a Christmas Fayre with children’s entertainment, and amongst other fund-raising activities we also host a hugely popular ‘Summer Camp-Out’ which has the feel of a small pop-up festival that both parents and children love.

The PTA is a charity (registered in England & Wales, number 1031952) that is open to all parents, grandparents and carers of children at St Joseph’s. You don’t have to do anything to ‘join’ as such and will always be welcome to get involved. We have a core committee who run the PTA and are the charity’s trustees. This committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting each year (held in the Spring term). We also have a group of active parents who volunteer to help at events – setting-up, serving refreshments, running activities. Whatever time you can spare will help make the PTA even more successful, and that will mean we can donate more to the school to help support your child’s learning.

The PTA meets around twice a term, but if you can’t always get to meetings don’t worry, as a lot of the planning is done via email and WhatsApp, so you can still be involved.

If you would like to support the PTA please contact a member of the committee via the school office or in the playground. Our current committee was formed in 2018 and the key roles are held by:

Chair – Jo Smee

Treasurer – Sam Brittain

Secretary – Gemma Wilkins
