Autumn Term 2 2023/2024

Term 2 Week 4

This week we carried on with our REACH activity for the term. We have been looking at food safety and washing our hands as part of our Ebug project. We did a fantastic experiment, making our hands dirty with oil and flour and finding the most effective way to wash them. Year 3 found that by using soap and washing for at least 20 seconds we were all able to get clean hands!

Work is now well underway for our carol concert. The children are singing beautifully, and cannot wait to share their hard work with you on the last week of term.
Term 2 Week 3

This week, the children have really been enjoying Music. We have been practicing singing the song 'Let Your Spirit Fly'. Our confidence has definitely improved in our performance - just in time for our carol concert! This week we were excited to introduce the glockenspiel to our song. We had lots of fun exploring the different sounds and tunes this instrument can play.

We also reflected on what words we think of when we think of Jesus. Here are a few of the children's answers:

  • Christmas Day
  • Light of the World
  • Love
  • Son of God
  • He promises us the Light
  • Candle
  • Kindness
Term 2 Week 2

This week we were all very excited to begin our English unit on diary entries. We looked at a few different examples, before doing a retell of a Stone Age diary. The children loved doing the actions, and I certainly saw lots of confidence!

Year 3 have also begun gardening this term, with Mrs Daly and Mrs Gwyer. The children have been working hard to turn the soil in the vegetable patch and clear out a few plant pots. I'm certain it will look lovely come summer!
Term 2 Week 1

The children have had a fantastic first week back to our Christmas term. We started back with a celebration - with the announcement that we have raised over £600 for Macmillan through our Coffee Morning. What a fantastic achievement and a great opportunity for us to practice our virtues of hope and love.

The children also finished making their popcorn boxes. We used shell structures to make these, and practiced our techniques of folding and scoring. Well done Year 3 - what amazing work!
