St Joseph’s Pre-school is open to all children aged 2 to school age.  Children do not need to be potty trained before they start with us.  However, we ask that they wear nappies and that these are supplied daily (ie. whenever the child attends).

We are open 5 days a week, Monday to Friday (Early Morning Session available from 8.45-9.00am) 9.00am to 3.00pm, during term time. We operate the following hours:

Sessions available to book

Children are required to attend a minimum of 2 separate sessions a week that equates to one full day or two individual sessions (e.g. 2 x morning sessions), as per our Admissions Policy (No 4.1).

Early Morning Session: 8.45am to 9.00am

Morning sessions: 9.00am to 12 noon

Morning session including lunch: 9.00am to 1.00pm

Full day: 9.00am to 3.00pm

Two sessions can be the following examples:
  • two morning sessions, ie 9am to 12 noon and/or 9am to 1pm;
  • two full day sessions, ie 9am to 3pm; or
  • a combination of part and full sessions, ie. one morning/afternoon (as above) and one full day (ie. 9am to 3pm).

Typical session:

Morning: The children enter the setting and register. We start our day with a P.E. session which vary including dance, circle games and running. In the morning we have 3 activities running which link with Literacy, Numeracy and Expressive Arts and Design as well as free-flow play.

Snack time: A chance for the children to sit together and learn social skills together with improving their sharing skills.

Lunchtime: The children are welcome to bring their own lunchbox or have a cooked dinner provided by the school. During the summer term we have lunch in the school hall, this prepares the children for their transition into school.

Afternoon: There is free-flow play in the afternoon with activities which are influenced by the children's interests. We also have an Understanding the World themed activity available for the children to participate in.
