St Patrick's Spring Term 1 2025/2026

Week 6

What a great term we have had in St. Patrick's class. We celebrated all of our success with a crisp carnival (crisp chaos). We thought it was a lot of fun and loved trying lots of new flavours.

This week in maths we finished our unit on column addition and subtraction. These are skills we will use a lot, so we will be resilient and keep practicing.

In English we have been continuing learning about newspaper articles. If anyone finds an interesting one over half term, feel free to bring it in - we love doing all kinds of reading in Year 3!

In PE we finished our units on cricket and gymnastics. We thought these were really fun and we really loved the springboard. It was fantastic to watch our confidence grow and we got better and better each week.

We hope you have a fantastic half term! :)
Week 5

This week we have been continuing to look at column subtraction in maths. All of us showed great resilience, it was not always easy!
In Science we have been learning about magnets and did an experiment to find out which things were magnetic. It was fascinating to find that not all metals were magnetic. Very interesting!
In English we have started our new unit on newspaper articles. If anyone finds an interesting one, we would love for them to bring it in!
Week 4

Another great week in Year 3. In Maths we are very excited to move to column subtraction, and have been working hard to set our problems out correctly. We have been very resilient with this!

In Art we continued to work on our Henri Matisse inspired work. We have a few more sessions on this, but you can see how we have been getting on in these pictures.

We continue to really enjoy our gym sessions with Mrs Dixon. This week we used the springboard and found it very fun and bouncy.

We grew in Faith this week by learning about Don Boso, as well as a new parable, the Parable of the Sower.
Week 3

In Maths we have been looking at column addition. At first we needed to be quite resilient - but we are all feeling confident now! In English we have started a new topic on instructions. We are aiming to do a science experiment soon and are hoping our skills can help us.

In RHE we had a very important lesson on staying safe online. We learned that just as there are rules at home and school to keep us safe, there are rules online too.

We continue to look at gymnastics and cricket in PE. Thank you to all the grown ups who have provided us with the correct clothing for this.

We grew in our faith this week by continuing to examine how Jesus' miracles inspire us to build the kingdom of God on earth. We also looked at the Lord's prayer, and learned that miracles are NOT magic!
Week 2

In RE we have been learning about miracles. We heard a story about Jesus healing the Centurion's servant. Jesus worked hard to build the kingdom of God on earth, and we can work hard to do the same.

In Maths we have continued our work on fractions. Today we even used our times tables to work out equivalent fractions. We were very resilient!

In English this week we have been continuing our work on Kenning poems. Here is one we have written as a class, we wonder if you can guess what it is about

A slimy creature,
A sticky slimer,
A slow walker,
A slime leaver,
A rain lover,
An astonishing creature,
An annoying garden destroyer,
A leaf eater,

What am I?
Week 1

We have had a great first week back in Year 3. We started the term off with some gymnastics with Mrs Dixon. We practiced making shapes, travelling, and jumping and combined all three into sequences of movement. We even performed these with confidence to the rest of the class!

We are loving our new book, Llama out Loud. We are finding it really funny!

We have been very resilient in Maths this week looking at fractions. We know that when the denominator is the same, the larger the numerator, the larger the fraction.

In RE we have grown in our Faith by looking at the visit from the Magi, and examining how this shows us that Jesus came here for everybody.
