Reception
This special award is presented to a boy in St. Peter’s class in recognition of the wonderful way he shines God’s love each day. He lives out our virtues of faith, hope and love through every smile, every kind word, and every thoughtful action.
He not only loves others so genuinely – he notices and celebrates the love and kindness he sees in the world around him. He recognises the good in people, and he helps others to see it too.
Whether it’s offering a smile, remembering to say please and thank you, or holding the door open for his friends and teachers, his little acts of kindness show a very big heart.
“Little acts, done with great love, make a big difference.” – St. Therese of Lisieux
Thank you for being such a positive example to us all – reminding us that love is shared not only in grand gestures, but in everyday moments where we care for one another.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14
Congratulations, Charles – you truly help God’s love grow in our school family every day.
Year 1
I am delighted to present this Governor’s Award to a truly exceptional child in Year 1 who has shown aspiration and determination throughout the term, always giving her best even when things felt challenging and never hesitating to aim high. She begins each day with a bright, confident smile that lifts the spirits of those around her, and her gentle, caring nature creates a warm and loving atmosphere in our classroom. Her empathy shines through in the way she looks after her friends, always making sure everyone feels included and supported. She sets high expectations for herself and meets them with quiet grace and a hopeful heart. As St. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “Faith, hope and love remain,” and this child lives that truth every day through her actions and her heart. Thank you for being such a shining example Lottie.
Year 2
It is a pleasure to present this term’s Governor’s Award to someone that has blown me away with the progress they have made. This person has shown amazing resilience and perseverance to be the best they can be, both within their academic work and within their values and virtues. I am so proud of how hard he has been working to make a difference to himself and those around him, which he has been achieving through his positive attitude, kind nature and willingness to try his best with any task he approaches. The faith and belief that he continues to demonstrate has helped him to push himself further with his learning, and I hope that he can carry this through the rest of his school life. Cassius, you should be so proud of the fantastic progress you have made this term – you are a superstar. Keep it up!
Year 3
It’s a true joy to stand before you today and celebrate a student who brings light and warmth to our school community. This award goes to someone who consistently shows what it means to be a good friend - someone who encourages others, lifts them up, and always leads by example.
He sets high standards for himself and works hard to meet them, never settling for less than his best. He listens carefully to feedback, always eager to grow, and does so with a calm and peaceful spirit that helps others feel safe and supported.
In group work and on the sports field, he is a team player through and through. He models fairness, respect, and good sportsmanship, reminding us that how we treat others matters more than winning.
As we reflect on his example, we’re reminded of the words from Hebrews 10:24: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” This student lives that scripture every day - encouraging others, showing love through action, and inspiring us all to be better.
Congratulations Jackson and thank you for being a shining example of friendship, effort, and grace.
Year 4
I am delighted to be giving this Governor’s Award to a child who has made a truly wonderful start to Year 4, settling in with warmth, maturity, and a gentle confidence that uplifts those around her. From the very beginning of the year, she has shown herself to be a beacon of kindness-always ready with a smile, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture to check that others are okay. Her compassion and empathy shine through in both the classroom and the playground, making her a valued friend and role model to her peers.
She gives her all in every lesson, showing creativity, deep thinking, and a true love of learning. Her work is beautifully presented, and she consistently sets high standards, tackling challenges with resilience and positivity. In RE, she shows impressive understanding and makes thoughtful links across learning. Her words and actions reflect faith, hope, and love-uplifting those around her. As Corinthians 16:14 reminds us, “Let all that you do be done in love.” This child embodies that message in every aspect of school life, and it is a joy to celebrate her today. Well done to Robin, keep being a ray of sunshine!
Year 5
Today, we recognise a young lady who consistently shines with the light of Christ in all she does. Each year, she is recognised not just for her achievements, but for the way she is as a person. This young lady knows exactly what is expected of her at St Joseph’s, and never misses a beat in being the best she can be.
She is a true role model to her peers. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in prayer, she chooses what is right, even when it’s hard. Her actions speak of a deep commitment to the virtues we hold dear: faith, hope, and love—the theological virtues that guide our relationship with God.
Her attitude is one of quiet strength and joyful service. She works hard, not for recognition, but because she knows that it is the right thing to do. She lifts others up, encourages those who struggle, and never hesitates to do what is good and true. More recently, she has been voted into School Council, and we can’t wait to watch you shape our school family.
We are so proud of you for being the best you can be in every single thing you do. May you continue to grow in faith, in confidence, and in kindness as you serve others and let your light shine.
Thank you, Ella.
Year 6
This award is presented in recognition of a pupil whose presence is a true gift to our school community. He radiates joy, warmth, and kindness in everything he does, and his impact on those around him is nothing short of remarkable. He lives out our school’s values with grace and consistency, and embodies the virtues of faith, hope, and love, not just in moments, but in every single day.
His love for history and his astonishing recall of facts make him a fountain of knowledge and curiosity. He brings learning to life, sparking interest and wonder in others. His perseverance is inspiring—whether he’s tackling a new book or determinedly aiming for the bullseye in archery, he never gives up. His quiet determination is a lesson to us all.
He shows empathy in the most beautiful ways—like noticing when someone is feeling left out and gently drawing them in, or offering kind words to a friend who needs encouragement. He has a wonderful ability to make others laugh, often with perfect timing and a sparkle in his eye. His humour is gentle, inclusive, and uplifting. His unique sense of style and musical taste—such as asking to start one residential morning with Elvis—adds charm and character that makes every moment with him memorable.
He is always polite, thoughtful, and deeply considerate of others’ feelings. He lives out the wisdom of Philippians 2:4:“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
He impresses all the adults at school with his maturity, warmth, and positivity—but on residential, he truly shone, leaving a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to spend time with him. This award is proudly and joyfully presented to Oliver.
