Autumn Term 1 (2025 - 2026)

Autumn Term 2, Week 8

We have REACHed during our final week of our first term at school – sharing in our Harvest Celebration and shining with confidence, Mrs Daly, Mrs Barron and Mrs Piper were so proud of us they rewarded us with a REACH point!

This week we celebrated God’s creation, walking to the convent, picking apples and prepping them for the campfire, where we enjoyed them with a story in our REACH time.

We explored God's love for everyone and how we can be welcomed in the church through faith by the act of baptism - visiting the church to see the font and acting out a baptism in our water play area.

For our REACH activity we use watery paint to explore how easier germs can spread.

We have blown Mrs Daly away with the all the Phase 2 sounds have remembered across the term, and are ready to start our Phase 3 sounds in Autumn Term 2. Thank you for helping and encouraging us to learn these sounds with us at home.

Happy Birthday: Maddie

Thank you to our Mystery Reader: Miss Drury and Y3.

Autumn Term 1, Week 7

Our exciting preparations for the KS1 Harvest Celebrations continues, we are very excited to shine with confidence performing the songs we have learnt with you all.

Maths we have been resilient comparing 2 sets of amounts correctly using ‘fewer than’ and ‘more than’ in sentences.

We have enjoyed celebrating all the wonderful ways we can look after God’s creation, we have planted some violas in our Outdoor space, as well as sorted recycling into groups and created posters of things we can do to help bring hope for our futures for the world we love.

We demonstrated our high expectations in Literacy when inspired by Mrs Daly’s truly magnificent outfit, and were able to share outstanding examples of things we had seen that were truly magnificent, like the views from the ski lift over a snowy mountains.

We have continued to enjoy making obstacle courses in our physical development areas, as well as making creatures in playdough inspired by God’s creation story.

Happy Birthday Niamh

Thank you to our Mystery Reader: Mr Johnson

Autumn Term 1, Week 6

Our confidence has shone this week with our knowledge and understanding for knowing how to make 3 and 4, including being able to spot them quickly through ‘subitising’. We know that 4 can be made of 3 and another one, and we can spot patterns of 3 within a group of 4. We have also been resilient when sorting objects into two groups.

In literacy we have continued to grow in our understanding of our book ‘Room on the Broom’ getting to ‘Quiz the Character’ at different stages of the book, demonstrating our empathy by relating ourselves to the feelings of the character.  We also demonstrated high expectations for our expression to understand words from the book like grinned and shrieked.

For this term’s REACH activity we have been enjoying our eBug series and had lots of fun exploring hand hygiene we will certainly aim to be the best we can be with our hand washing now!

We were in awe of God’s great creation through our RE lesson this week, considering all the amazing things God has made for us to enjoy and look after - he truly loves us.

Happy Birthday Grace, Charlie and Novie

Thank you to our Mystery Reader: Mrs Frankcom

Autumn Term 1, Week 5

What an exciting week! In Maths we have been making patterns and collections of 3, and even using natural material to create patterns with confidence on our tinkering table.

We have reflected with faith and love about God’s creation spotting lots of His creation outside, as well as drawing parts of the creation story on the playground.

Throughout the week we have been thinking about our wider school community as part of the Little Way Catholic Educational Trust, celebrating little acts, done with great love, which make a huge difference. We have created tissue paper flowers which we put into the shape of the trust’s symbol. Knowing we are part of something bigger gives us great hope in our future.

For Outdoor Learning we went on a Nature Scavenger Hunt looking closely at things we were finding, being thoughtfully empathetic to our surroundings.

In Literacy have been using the word terrified, and spotted that Mrs Daly looked terrified and are being aspirational to try and use this around the classroom and thinking of our own sentences.

Thank you to our Mystery Reader: Mrs Palmer

Autumn Term 1, Week 4

This has been a busy week where we have been the best we can be!

We have been learning how to play our new music frogs – the sound was amazing and we were aspirational with our rhythm.

We showed confidence when making our conker pictures, and enjoyed exploring the patterns the conkers made with paints.

We were empathetic with our Outdoor Learning, enjoying a story on our walk and collecting sticks to paint and decorate.

We shared our faith, hope and love as a whole school at our very first mass with Father Phillip.

We were resilient with our construction and stage shows working together to build tracks for rolling tyres and creating shows that included everyone that wanted to join in.

Thank you to Mrs Rushton - we loved that you brought a book centered around our virtues of faith, hope and love as well as a second book that made us all laugh out loud.

Autumn Term 1, Week 3

WOW! Mrs Daly, Mrs Piper and Mrs Barron are amazed by how incredibly well we have REACHed in our learning this week – being so resilient with our longer days.

On Friday we enjoyed some time at the convent for story time, and loved getting to enjoy a biscuit at the end. We look forward to doing this again next month.

We have been aspirational with our Maths, confidently subitising (using our fast eyes so we don’t count, but see the amount) groups of 1, 2 and 3, as well matching objects, seeing what is the same, and what is different.

We are being resilient as we learn to blend to read the phonemes s, a, t, p, i, n, m d – and are working hard to write these letters too.

Mrs Daly has told us what superstars we are for our first few weeks and we are most deserving of a relaxing weekend filled with fresh air, cuddles and stories!Thank you to our first Mystery Reader: Mrs Conway – we loved hearing the book Cockatoos.

If you have caught Mrs Daly to sign up to be a surprise guest reader on our Mystery Reader schedule, please catch her at the end of the day when she has her sparkly pink clipboard.

Autumn Term 1, Week 2

Another fantastic week with St. Peter’s class shining to be the best they can be.

We have started our ULS Phonics lessons and have blown Mrs Daly and Mrs Piper away with how well we are remembering our sounds - demonstrated our confidence of the sounds to Mrs Howells and Mrs Blanch (CEO of the MAT) when they’ve been in.

We have enjoyed meeting our buddies for the first time and have enjoyed eating lunch with them – something we are looking forward to doing most Fridays together.

We have been busy showcasing our high expectations for Literacy, and have enjoyed spotting a ‘bedraggled’ Mrs Daly around the classroom.  Maybe you will spot the ‘bedraggled’ photo of her in the photos below too! Our current Literacy journey is inspired by the story ‘Cottonwool Colin’.

Autumn Term 1, Week 1

The children have made a wonderful start to their Reception Year – they have arrived ready for learning looking incredibly smart in their uniform, REACHing to be the best they can be - Thank you to the our families for ensuring the children have the correct uniform.

This week we have been touring the school, seeing where things are, and getting to know one another through Faith, Hope and Love.

We are exploring our new environment with confidence and aspiration – showing our teachers what we know, and sharing things about the people we love.

Our mark making has been a display of sparkly resilience and fun, and we have been enjoying painting what we have been up to with our bears this summer for the display.

We are so excited to stay for lunch next week and meet our Year 6 Buddies.
