Who is Saint Bernadette?
St. Bernadette of Lourdes (born January 7, 1844, Lourdes, France—died April 16, 1879) is a French Saint whose visions led to the founding of the Marian shrine of Lourdes.
Saint Bernadette was a young girl from Lourdes, France, who saw visions of the Virgin Mary in a cave near her home. She shared Mary’s message of prayer and kindness, and Lourdes became a special place for pilgrims. Bernadette later became a nun and was known for her humility and faith.
Miss Megan Keightley
Year 4 Class Teacher
My name is Miss Keightley, and I am absolutely delighted to be the Year 4 Class Teacher. It is such a privilege to teach a class of empathetic, aspirational children who approach each day with curiosity and kindness. I am passionate about creating a classroom where every child feels valued, celebrated, and inspired to be the very best version of themselves. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing children thrive and flourish with their unique talents- whether that’s in their learning, their creativity, their confidence, or the way they support one another.
I cannot wait for the year ahead, filled with sensational learning, exciting challenges, and plenty of opportunities for the children to shine. In school, I especially love promoting a love for reading, helping children discover books that speak to them, spark their imagination, and open up new worlds.
When I am not in school, you’ll often find me with a book and a cup of tea, heading out on peaceful country walks, or spending quality time with my family.
- Homework will be set on a Friday and will be alternating either Maths or English homework. Homework will be set on TEAMS and will be due in the following Wednesday.
- Once per term, children will also have Religious Education homework.
- In June, Year 4 sit a National Statutory Times table check. It is SO important for the children to leave Year 4 fluent in times tables and we practice as often as we can in school. Any practice at home is very welcome and rewarded with REACH points or marbles.
- PE will be every Thursday and Friday- please ensure your child comes into school in PE kit.
- Reading at home is SO important for all children. We encourage children to read to an adult 5 times a week and award the children a reading point. Every 25 reading points, the children will earn a badge!
- Each week, a child will bring home our Class Prayer bag. Within the bag, you will find a cloth (linked to our Liturgical Season), prayers and religious objects linked to the time of the year. Please use this to pray as a family.
How do I contact my child's teacher?
I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have throughout the year. You can catch me on the playground at the end of the day. I am always happy to help!
