What YOU must do:
- Try to telephone the school before 9am each day of your child’s absence
- Tell the school in advance, of any medical appointments
- If you are not sure whether your child is well enough to attend school, send them in anyway as they often perk up on arrival
- Have a backup plan for if your child misses transport, call on a family member, neighbour or friend
- If you and your child are experiencing difficulties with school attendance then talk to us as a first step so we can help
What WE will do:
- Check your child’s attendance every day
- Track all children’s attendance if they fall below 96%
- Phone home to discuss your child’s attendance with you
- Send out a letter if your child’s attendance falls below 96%
- Contact you if your child is late to school more than 3 times
- Invite you into school for attendance meetings if we are concerned
- If we cannot establish a reason for absence, then we may make a welfare home visit
Thank you for your continued support.
Attendance update 9th October 2026
We have had a fantastic week, 128 pupils were in school on time every day last week, setting a new record for the term. Every day in school matters, and it has been wonderful to see our classrooms so full of children learning, playing and growing together. We monitor attendance carefully so that we can celebrate success, but also notice quickly when a child or family might need some additional help. We know that there can be many reasons why attending school becomes difficult, and our first response will always be to listen, understand and work alongside families to set in place clear pathways to full attendance.
