Autumn Term 2 (2025 - 2026)

Autumn Term 2, Week 4

We are shining with our REACH values this week, and we continue with Nativity and are getting excited to put the finishing touches together ready for the performance in a few weeks - we cannot wait for you to see it.

We have applied our high expectations in our phonics are we have now been learning more digraphs and even our first trigraph 'igh'.

We have considered the love and celebrations of the Jewish faith this week, learning about Hanukkah.

We completed our Literacy Journey for Stick Man, using our Pen Power books to show how we might use the new vocabulary we have been learning like 'tumbling' and 'drifting' with confidence

Happy Birthday Celeste!

Thank you to our Mystery Reader: Mrs Allin

Autumn Term 2, Week 3

We cannot believe we are racing towards the end of November already, we are busy getting ready for the Nativity, and cannot wait for you to come and see our performance and see how our confidence has grown.

This week we have been using high expectations to share the vocabulary we have been exploring from ‘Stick Man’ such as tumbling, dozing, twirling, shoved, weary, and using them throughout our provision.

Throughout our learning in RE we have focused on Mary and Joseph’s faith and love as they journeyed to Bethlehem and learning about laying Jesus in a manager, making our own mangers in junk modelling.

For Maths we have been resilient looking at sorting objects in groups: size, colour, shape and beginning toconsider how many 1s 2 and 3 are made of (1+1=2 and 1+1+1 = 3), as well as parts and whole.

We have enjoyed reflecting on similarities and differences of the Hindu faith looking at Diwali and considering we all celebrate important events in our faith calendars.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the snow on our snowy walk.

Happy Birthday Elara.

Thank to our Mystery Reader: Miss Keightley.

Autumn Term 2, Week 2

This week we have been leading with empathy and love and as we lead the school in a Remembrance Assembly with Y6, sharing the poems we wrote together, poppy wreaths we made and the a song. Our empathetic outlook continued across the week with Anti-Bullying Week, recognising the importance of using 'Our Power of Good' to be kind and act with love at the centre of our actions.

As part of our topic, this week we had lots of learning opportunities around Remembrance, making poppies on our peg boards and on our tinkering table for our fine motor skills.

In maths we have been resilient exploring not enough, equal, and not enough when counting out amounts to 4 and 5, as well as looking at objects and deciding if they are heavier than or lighter than.

Literacy we have continued our Talk Through Stories of Stick Man, considering how we might solve the problem in our Pen Power books, as well as using our high expectations in our phonics, working hard to use our phonic knowledge to wrote labels for pictures.

This week for RE we created maps of the long journey Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and empathetically shared our thoughts of what that journey might have felt like, and the faith Mary and Joseph showed to God.

Autumn Term 2, Week 1

What a super week back we have had focusing our learning around Fireworks night, learning about Guy Fawkes and looking at the way we celebrate Bonfire Night – we confidently created firework paintings, and made our own paint in outdoor learning.

Our REACH values were shining through during our visit from Sian Hughes – a real life author who shared her new book, and told us lots about the life of a writer. We really enjoyed seeing her book come to life with her incredible props. Thank you Mrs Knight for organising us such a super visitor.

We worked with our buddies writing an empathetic poem for Remembrance assembly next week and enjoyed hearing the message from Father Phillip in Mass, hearing about the bible – it is a book of books.

We had another visitor – a local Councillor in a special Eco assembly followed by our Eco inspired REACH activity of Leaf Crowns – thank you Mrs Piper for organising a fun session for us.

We have had such fun returning to school this week after half term, confidently digging in the ‘big dig’ area and resiliently riding our balance bikes.
