Week commencing 3rd November 2025
We’ve had a fantastic first week back in class, setting the tone with high expectations and a real buzz for the term ahead. The children have returned with enthusiasm, focus, and a love of learning that’s already shining through in their work.
This week, we began diving into non-chronological reports-learning how to organise information clearly and creatively. To inspire our writing, we were lucky to be part of the Stroud Book Festival! Author Sian Hughes visited our class and read her delightful story Toff the Cat. She spoke about how she builds characters and brought Toff to life with warmth and humour. The children were captivated and asked brilliant questions about characterisation.
Later in the week, we joined a live virtual event with Onjali Q. Raúf, author of The Game I Will Never Forget. She shared powerful insights into why she writes, the stories that matter to her, and her favourite books growing up. It was a moving and memorable experience that sparked lots of thoughtful discussion.
In Science, we’ve started thinking about our new topic-Sound. We explored what sound is, how it travels, and began to ask curious questions about vibrations, pitch, and volume. The children are already eager to experiment and investigate further!
Our new RE branch, Prophecy and Promise, began with a deep dive into what it means to be a prophet. We explored the story of Elijah, a courageous prophet who spoke truth to King Ahab. The children reflected on the qualities of a prophet and how promises and messages from God can shape lives and communities.
