Summer Term 2 2025

Week beginning the 6th June 2025
Year One have returned full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to dive into some exciting learning across all subjects. This week has been full of creativity, movement, and learning. From performing poetry and building sculptures to working as a team in Physical Education, Year One have shown brilliant focus, teamwork, and enthusiasm in everything they have done.

In English, we have been exploring the lively and entertaining Monkey Poem. We acted out the poem together, which helped us to remember the story and understand the characters more clearly. This activity also supported our learning about alliteration, where words start with the same sound, and nouns, which are naming words. We enjoyed spotting these features in the poem and using them in our own writing.

In Art, we continued developing our skills in creating 3D sculptures. Before the holiday, we made the base of our sculptures using clay. This week, we added colourful paper feathers and beaks to complete our creations. It was exciting to see our sculptures come to life, the children worked incredibly well on this and produced some fantastic 3D bird sculptures.

In PE, we have been working on our multi-skills, focusing on coordination and agility. We took part in a fun team challenge where we had to weave in and out of cones, collect a ball, and return to our line. Once everyone had completed the task, we showed great teamwork by sitting down and holding up our balls together. It was a fantastic way to practice moving quickly and changing direction with control.
