Summer 1 Week 2
This week may be the shortest of the term, but we have certainly made sure we have REACHed in every area of our learning. After enjoying our bank holiday Monday, we have returned to our learning with confidence, writing a list for the Owl Babies nest and then writing a retell for the story ‘Owl Babies’.
In Maths we working with high expectations to show our understanding of how numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are made of 5 (and a bit more), and showing and sharing what would be needed for us make these numbers.
We have been resilient learning new skills in our multi-skills sessions, passing and controlling a ball. Our aspirational and empathetic science learning - observing our ant farm – has been brilliant for us to ‘see’ and ‘notice’ what they do, we have been amazed by the very impressive tunnel they have created in just a few short days.
‘Seeing’ and ‘noticing’ was something we did so much of on our school trip to Slimbridge Wetlands. We were the ‘best we can be’ in every area of our learning during this visit and all the staff were so proud of how well we listened, and they loved seeing us enjoy the day as much as we did. Mrs Howells was delighted to hear that we were the best pond dippers they’ve had this year (which included college students earlier in the week). Julie, our guide was amazed at what we caught. We stood out with our empathetic and careful nature when dealing with the wildlife and loved learning about the Grey Crown Crane in the bird talk. We had the confidence to share and ask questions during the visit. Thank you to all the parents that came to help on the day too – what a wonderful adventure it was for us all.

Summer 1 Week 1
What an exciting start to our Summer 1 term we are having. We have already started shining with aspiration as we begin investigating planting environments in our Outdoor Learning, seeing what happens when we try and grow seed in different conditions. Do ask us how our experiments are going, we cannot wait to see what happens.
We have thought with love about the passing of Pope Francis, and prayed with hope, as we wait the news of who will be our new Pope.
In Maths we have confidently been subitising 6, and looking at the ways we can make 6, starting with 5 (and needing a bit more). During Literacy we have been resilient to use our phonic knowledge to write captions and sentence, remembering our find spaces. Please help us to use the correct tripod grip in all our mark making, it really does make a huge difference to our letter formation when we do use this correctly.
In PE we are showing amazing listening and coordination skills in our multi-skills lessons, having high expectations throughout.
We have returned to our woodwork this term, and hope to get closer to finishing our projects. We have also been enjoying a great ant hunt, collecting ants for our new ant farm.
