Summer 2 2025

Week commencing 30th June 2025

Despite the hot weather this week, we showed incredible resilience and worked very hard across all our learning. We’re now feeling extra excited as next week is Health Week-and we can’t wait for Sports Day!

In DT, we completed our final designs and carefully selected ingredients for our healthy granola bars. We’re now ready to begin making them!

In Maths, we explored coordinates and learned how to plot them on a grid. We even started looking at translations, showing great confidence even when things got a little tricky.

In MOT, we’ve been revisiting our fractions and decimals unit to strengthen our understanding and secure our knowledge.

In Computing, we investigated repeating patterns and wrote algorithms to draw a square-an excellent blend of logic and creativity.

In English, we planned, wrote, and performed our very own raps. Performing them in front of the whole class was both exciting and fun! We demonstrated high expectations here.

In RE, we explored the Five Pillars of Islam. We demonstrated our virtue of faith by listening respectfully and sharing thoughtful ideas.

In History, we compared settlements across the Stone Age, the Anglo-Saxon period, and modern times, identifying similarities and differences over time.

In PE, we’ve been practising our Sports Day events while learning how to support and cheer each other on.

During our REACH activity, we took part in our final transition session. We completed our letters and created beautiful flowers by tracing our hands.

We also finished our class book-it left us feeling both happy and sad. The cliff-hangers kept us hooked, and we loved discovering how the story ended!

Thank you for reading about our week. We hope you enjoyed it—and we can’t wait to share all the excitement of Health Week next time!

From Year 4

Week commencing 16th June 2025

This week, we have been doing some amazing learning in Year 4. We have demonstrated our REACH values throughout the week and have especially shown lots of resilience, as the weather has been very warm.

In Maths, we have been looking at measurement and converting different units of measure. Even though we may find it tricky at times, we always try our best and never give up! We have a rhyme to help us remember: “Horse to fly, multiply; fly to horse, divide of course.” In our MOT sessions, we’ve been learning how to convert time from 12-hour to 24-hour format.

In our DT lesson, we completed our focused task, using the bridge and claw techniques correctly. We practised by cutting up blueberries and strawberries, ready for when we make our granola bars. We also discussed how to stay safe and follow correct food hygiene procedures.

In Science, we explored human teeth. We labelled the different types on a diagram and then researched their functions.

In English, we continued studying traditional myths. We completed our shared write and had high expectations for our work, making sure to use our best handwriting and excellent vocabulary.

On Friday, we visited Year 5 for our transition activity. We finished our scenario posters, working in groups with roles such as designer, colourer, and writer. We also did some tea-staining in preparation for next week, when we’ll be writing about our new Saint.

We’re really enjoying our class book and can’t wait to finish it and find out what happens-we’re always being left on a cliff-hanger!

Next week at school, we are going to be…

Written by Year 4

Week commencing 2nd June 2025

Welcome back, everyone! We have had a fantastic first week of term, settling back into our routines with resilience and enthusiasm. It’s been wonderful to see everyone approaching their learning with such determination and curiosity.

This week, we continued working with decimals, exploring both mental and written methods to add them together. It was great to see so many lightbulb moments as we tackled different strategies with confidence!

In RE, we revisited the story of St Paul, exploring his conversion and the impact he had on Christians and the Church. Our discussions built upon our previous learning from Year 2, helping us to connect the pieces and understand his journey more deeply.

With the times table check fast approaching, we seized every moment to practice-whether in spare minutes, transition times, or even quick-fire games! Keep up the hard work, everyone-your perseverance is really paying off!

We launched our new topic: Changing Britain. To kick things off, we became history detectives, searching around the classroom to build a timeline of key historical events. It was brilliant to see the teamwork and excitement as we pieced together different eras.

In our French lessons, we started learning about la famille, exploring different ways to write and describe family members. C'était très intéressant!

Overall, it has been an inspiring start to the term. Keep up the fantastic effort, Year 4-we can’t wait to see what next week brings!
