Week 5
This week we have enjoyed continuing basketball in PE. The children have become very confident at intercepting the ball. It has lead to some very interesting games!
Maths this week was challenging at times. We spent some time looking at bridging when subtracting three digit numbers. We have all been very resilient looking at these new methods, and look forward to becoming more confident with them in the future.
In Outdoor Learning this week, the children got very muddy and started to make their own paint using natural resources. You can enjoy some of the pictures below.
We have been practicing our carols in preparation for our concert. This week we started practicing Jingle Bells, and had our first rehearsal in the church. We can't wait for the performance, and hope to see lots of you there!
Week 4
This week the most exciting thing we have done has been filling our shoeboxes for the rotary club. We thought about our virtue of love and our value of empathy, giving things to those that have less than us. Thank you for all of your generosity.
In outdoor learning the children enjoyed making their own tools, just like people in the Stone Age would have done. We made a great range of objects such as a bow and arrow, a paint brush and some axes.
In maths we have been looking at bridging when subtracting. Although this hasn’t been easy, we have been very resilient!
Week 2
This week we enjoyed refining our basketball skills in PE. The children practiced dribbling, and investigated if the could keep dribbling while sitting on the floor. We certainly became more confident with this. As a school we celebrated Anti-Bullying week. To commemorate this, we did some role play as a class on respectful and disrespectful communication. We also sung a song about respect, and made the lyrics ourselves. Hopefully next week we will have a video to show about this. We loved learning more about our REACH value of empathy, and our virtue of love.
Week One
What an amazing week Year 3 have had settling back into term. We have become more confident in our times tables through our work in maths. We have now finished covering the 3, 4 and 8 multiplication tables, so any practice you do at home will be a great bonus! We have begun looking at diary entries in English, examining their features as well as contractions and causal conjunctions.
Work on our Stone Age topic officially began on Tuesday. We have some very aspirational learners in this class, always wondering about big ideas and making connections between our topics - especially to our science topic of rocks.
