Week commencing 9th June 2025
What a fantastic week it’s been in Year 6!
Our play rehearsals are really starting to take shape – it’s been brilliant to see everyone’s growing confidence, especially when it comes to singing and dancing at the same time! The effort and energy being put into learning lines is fantastic, and we’re aiming for scripts down next week – so please keep up the great practising at home. Costumes are also beginning to come together wonderfully – a huge thank you to all the families for your ongoing help and support! Your love and encouragement mean so much to the children as they prepare for the big performance.
In Geography, we’ve been learning all about famous earthquakes around the world. We explored how and why they happen, and the children were full of curious questions and insightful ideas. Their hope for a safer, better-prepared world really shone through in our discussions.
PE has seen us developing our rounders and tennis skills – with lots of great teamwork, faith in one another, and sportsmanship on display!
In English, we began a new unit on diary writing, using the powerful music video Titanium as our inspiration. There’s been a real buzz of excitement in the room, with plenty of creative ideas flying around. We can’t wait to see how these pieces of writing develop next week!
Well done, Year 6 – keep up the brilliant effort, enthusiasm, and that special spirit of faith, hope, and love in everything you do!
Week commencing 2nd June 2025
A Busy and Brilliant Start to Year 6!
What an exciting and jam-packed first week back it’s been for our fantastic Year 6 class! We’ve hit the ground running with energy, enthusiasm and, most importantly, high expectations for the term ahead.
One of the highlights this week has undoubtedly been Bikeability. Come rain or shine (and yes, there was a lot of rain!), our pupils showed real resilience as they took to the roads. Starting in large groups and then progressing to small groups of three, every child had the chance to develop their cycling skills with the support of kind, encouraging instructors. Whether they were mastering control or building up to road awareness, we saw confidence growing by the day – and lots of wet socks too!
While some children were out cycling, others took part in a Micro:bit computing session. They have really enjoyed exploring using these devices over the last few terms and have shown curiosity and creativity. It was lovely to see classmates catching each other up later in the week – true empathy and teamwork in action.
Our Beauty and the Beast play rehearsals have also continued, and it’s already sounding brilliant. We’ve been reminding everyone to keep practising their lines and lyrics at home. The focus and aspiration on stage are setting a great example of how far we can go when we commit to something together.
In RE, we’ve started learning about Saul’s transformation into Paul on the road to Damascus. The children reflected thoughtfully on this powerful story of change, faith, and new beginnings – an inspiring way to think about how we ourselves can grow and develop in our final term in Year 6.
In maths, we’ve continued with our ‘Moving On Up’ project, tackling challenging concepts with increasing independence. It’s been amazing to see pupils rising to new challenges and helping one another to succeed.
Throughout the week, we’ve seen our school values in action: aspiration in our learning, resilience in the rain, confidence on stage and on bikes, and empathy in how we support each other. If this week is anything to go by, Year 6 are set for an incredible term. Keep it up, everyone – we’re proud of you already!
