St Joseph's Eco Committee

As a committee we have FAITH in God and our role as stewards of the earth, HOPE that we can make a difference and LOVE for our planet - God's creation.

We follow the Catholic Social Teaching principle that we are stewards of the earth, caring for our common home as promoted by Pope Francis in his letter Laudato Si. We believe that we are all called by God to take responsibility for the protection of the planet and we should strive to live upon it as sustainably as possible.

Our Eco Rep Emily says "Eco – Committee raises awareness, across the school, of the plight of our common home and our role as stewards of the earth. It helps us to be pro-active and foster a sense of connectedness with the natural world."

As St Joseph's is an Eco School, we are part of a global programme designed to help schools address environmental challenges. The Eco - Committee, through embodiment of our REACH values, has helped the school achieve both the Bronze and Silver awards as well as the final, internationally recognised, Green Flag award.

The Eco - Committee has a representative from every year group, as well as staff, parent and governor representatives. We meet regularly to work on environmental actions and help the school lessen it's environmental impact. We keep the whole school community updated and involved.
