Modern Foreign Languages

Our modern foreign language taught at St Joseph’s is French, which is taught as a weekly session in all Key Stage 2 classes. The school follows the Wakefield scheme of work published by La Jolie Ronde. The lessons are supported by activates on the interactive white board and sound files are also used.

The school focuses on listening, speaking and responding initially and then children progress to writing and reading. All of this provides children with the range of skills required of the national curriculum and prepares them for their future modern foreign language teaching at secondary school.
