Overview

At St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School we believe that children learn best when lessons are stimulating, engaging and challenging. We deliver the National Curriculum through creative themes.

The thoughtfully planned curriculum aims to provide our children with knowledge and skills that are built upon throughout their primary years, so that learning is durable, flexible and fit for purpose in our rapidly changing society. Our broad and balanced approach ensures that we inspire children to be scientists, geographers, authors, mathematicians and historians who can transfer skills across the curriculum.

The high quality, stimulating environment reflects all of the themes and inspires children to develop key characteristics of a successful learner. At St Joseph’s we R.E.A.C.H for the stars!

R-Resilience (Never give up)

E-Empathy (Love one another)

A-Aspirations (We are the future)

C-Confidence (Give it a go!)

H-High Expectations (Be the best you can be!)

The phonics scheme used in Key Stage 1 is ‘Letters and Sounds.’ We also use ‘Bug Club’ and ‘Book band’s reading schemes to ensure that the children have a breadth to their learning. Further information about each subject and the curriculum can be found each tab, as well as the fortnightly newsletter.

We teach Religious Education through the God Matters Strategy which provides a spring board for learning and each theme is linked to the liturgical calendar.

Through ‘Faith, Hope and Love’ we can succeed.
