St Joseph

A child's prayer to St Joseph
St. Joseph,
watch over me
and care for me
just as you cared for
the child Jesus;
and by your help,
may I come to know
your Son,
and so grow
in strength
and wisdom
and the favour of God.
Amen.
About St Joseph
St Joseph is the Patron Saint of our school. Everything we know about Joseph comes from Scripture. Joseph was a carpenter, a working man who was very humble. Joseph was compassionate and caring man, a man of faith who was obedient to whatever God asked of him. According to the Gospel of Matthew, he was a "righteous man" who always obeyed God's law.

Joseph was engaged to Mary and he was the mother of God. When he found out that Mary was pregnant, they decided to call off the marriage (as there was a penalty for adultery). However, the angel of the Lord told him in a dream that he should go ahead with the marriage because Mary's child was conceived by the Holy Spirit.

A few years later, when Jesus was 12 years old, Joseph took him and Mary to Jerusalem to visit the Temple. They separated from Jesus and it took them three days to find him.

When they found him, Mary said to Jesus: "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety." In reply, Jesus said, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
Luke 2:48-49

Joseph honoured his role as Jesus' Father. He cared for him, protected him and raised him as a jew.

In school, we celebrate the feast day for St Joseph on March 19th. As a school, we always have a mass in our school church, celebrated with our Parish and families.
