St Peter's Class Blog - Autumn 2024
W/C 11th November

This week, alongside our usual learning, we remembered all those who lost their lives for us in Monday's Remembrance Service.

We have also continued practising for the Nativity, which will be coming up in just a few short weeks.

In English this week, we started learning about Adventure Stories - specifically Walk the Plank and Meerkat Mail. Take a look at the pictures below to see how we got on in our Retell:
We also practised our basketball skills in PE this week, and learned how to shoot the ball into the net:

This week, we have enjoyed starting to practise our songs for the upcoming Nativity! As we head closer to Christmas, we will be also be learning our dance moves. We can't wait for you to watch our performance!

In PE, we demonstrated confidence as we began our basketball learning, picking up key skills and techniques that we will be able to use in the future when we start playing basketball games.

In English, we have started our Adventure Stories topic, in which we identified key features of story writing within our Walk the Plank text.

On Friday, we enjoyed a fantastic workshop with Year 1, all thanks to Stroud Book Festival. It was lead by author Sarah Coyle, who took the children on an immersive experience with her storytelling. See some photos above!

Welcome back! It's been another very busy week here in St Peter's Class - we performed at the Key Stage One Harvest Festival, celebrated Father Philip's birthday at Class Mass and enjoyed a wonderful cake sale for Macmillan - which was lead by the lovely Year 3 class.

On Friday, we enjoyed an insightful Outdoor Learning lesson, where we explored our forest area to discover some minibeasts in their microhabitats. This links in with our current Science learning, and we discussed the minibeasts' suitability for living in their habitat. We used bug viewers to take a close-up look at the minibeasts - it was fascinating! Take a look at some pictures below.

Welcome to our first class blog of the year! We can't wait to share what we've been up to so far...
W/C 25th November 2024

This week, we are well underway with our Nativity practise; we can't believe that we only have one full week of rehearsals left before the performance. The Year 2s have been working so hard to practise their lines, song lyrics and dance moves - I'm so proud of them all!

We also enjoyed the Advent Retreat this week, which was a fantastic way to start thinking about Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. Each classroom created such a calm environment that allowed plenty of time for reflection.

To end our week of rehearsals in a peaceful way, we enjoyed some Yoga - what better way to finish a busy week!

We have had a great week this week - we enjoyed a non-school uniform day on Monday, and we have been doing lots of Harvest Festival practice!

In our Science learning, we enjoyed learning about habitats all over the world - from Antarctica to the Gobi Desert!

We spent our DT lesson learning how to build strong wheels and axles, ready for our lesson on Monday, where we will be making our very own carts.

In English, we retold a fictional non-chronological report, all about the Frost Unicorn.

Altogether, it has been a very busy, but very fun, week!

Take a look at the photos below to see our highlights.
