Spring Term 2 (2025-2026)

Spring Term 2, Week 4

We have not had a moment this week to be dawdling, like Tiddler, in our new Talk Through Stories focus.  Along with learning the story, and retelling it with confident expression.  We have also thought up very creative ways we might solve the problem. Our Pen Power books are a real celebration of our writing journeys.

We have been sharing our high expectation through faith, as we celebrated St. Joseph’s Feast Day with a whole school mass – thank you to Mrs Howells for the delicious sweets you got for each of us!

For maths we have been resilient creating doubles using these sentence stems:

  •        This is a double because _____ is a part and _____ is a part (3 is a part and 3 is a part).
  •        _____ is made of _____ and ____; _____ and _____ make _____ (6 is made of 3 and 3; 3 and 3 make 6’

During Understanding of the World we have been aspirational with our sorting skills, working in groups to organise ‘now’ and ‘then’ items for hospitals over the years, sharing why we think it is old or new.

Our confidence has been soaring in our house singing rehearsals too – we cannot wait to perform our songs next week.

Happy Birthday Mrs Gasan.

Spring Term 2, Week 3

This term is going too quickly! We appear to racing towards Easter, thank you to our amazing parents who are listening to us read 5 times a week, and have come forward to offer to help on the Slimbridge Trip. We are so excited to be going there next term.

We have been aspirational with our learning throughout British Science Week - thank you to Mrs Carr for arranging for us to have visitors to come and make pinwheels with us, and to Mr Barron for coming in to help us with the tricky bits of this.

We have really enjoyed exploring and creating still life paintings with water colours this week with high expectations, as well as completing some other amazing creations to show our love on Mothering Sunday.

With faith and hope we have learnt about, Jesus entering Jersaulem on a donkey on Palm Sunday - making palm leaves and celebrating this with 'Hosanna'.

Happy Birthday Jonah.

Mystery Reader: Maddie's Grandma.
Spring Term 2, Week 2

We have been 'overjoyed' to see the sun come out this week, with more wanting to take their learning outside, we have been creating staircase patterns for our number work in our construction zone with creativity and confidence. As well are spotting 6 and not 6.

In Literacy we have been using our empathy skills as we have been 'quizzing the character' from our book focus 'Burglar Bill' - and 'blow me down' we have been working so hard, and really are enjoying using the vocabulary in the text - highlighted in our blog post in pink.

We were 'over the moon' when Mrs Daly helped us create a new obstacle in our outdoor area, and we had such fun using our resilience to work out the timing for jumping it in time, as well as working together in love through our communication for turn taking.

With faith we have created a Lent inspired stain glass window display for our classroom, remembering that Lent is a time to care for others.

We are really loving our St. Peter's Vet role play, and seeing what numbers can hide in other numbers, like Gracie hiding behind Mrs Daly!

We have loved celebrating World Book Day too - having parents in to share stories with us, writing a poem to share with the school, and wearing our pajamas - it has been a wonderful day celebrating something we love in St Peter's Class - READING and STORY TELLING!

Spring Term 2 Week 1

What a start back to our Spring Term 2.  We have started our new topic of People That Help Us, and are so excited to have a Vet Clinic for a Role Play in our classroom, where we have been using super vocabulary with confidence and high expectations.

In RHE we have been exploring with empathy people we trust and talking the difference of Family, Friends and people we know.

With encouraging faith, genuine hope and great love we have been exploring what it means to be entering the time of Lent and celebrated with a Mardi Gras inspired carnival in RE, inviting our Y6 buddies to join us.

For outdoor learning we have been aspirational in our spring watch spotting, hunting out our much needed signs of spring and starting daffodil inspired creations.

For Literacy this week, continue to show high expectations and confidence learning our new story ‘Burglar Bill’ considering how we might solve the problem in book, and using our pen power books to mark makes these ideas we have shared. Mrs Daly is overjoyed with us…she is over the moon!

During Maths we have been resilient as we create staircase patterns to 10, and counting beyond 10. We have been able to recognise 1 more and 1 less than numbers in the staircase patterns, as well as beginning to understand and write number sentences through part, part whole models.

In music we were creative and aspirational with our learning, as we considered ways to move to music and created rhythms with instruments inspired by the circus.

We really are aspirational learners!

Spring Term 2, Week 5

Wow! What a finale to our Spring Terms – our first House Singing competition under our belts, and Mrs Daly gave us all a REACH point for REACHing throughout our performances.

We have been very inspired in our RE learning and have been recreating our learning of the crucifixion – as well as making a cress garden tomb to represent where Jesus was laid and rose again. We are now very excited for Easter and celebrating God’s love and the new life offered to us through Jesus’s faithful resurrection. We got to reflect on the hope Easter during our class Mass.

On the last day of term, Year 3 came in dressed as pirate and ‘tried to take over our ship’, we were very excited to see them dressed up.

Our confidence has been soaring in Maths where we have been creating staircase patterns in our learning.
