Summer Term 2, Week 4
Phew! This week has been hot, hot, hot. We have had a lot of fun staying safe in school during this heatwave. Continuing to REACH in all we do.
We have enjoyed cooling our feet in a shallow water tray, picking out letters with our toes and seeing what words we can spell. We have been measuring water in another water tray and then having lots of fun transferring water and creating homes for sea creatures in another water based area.
Sharing our faith and love in action this week for Class Prayers we created cards for family members to show how much we love and appreciate them.
For Maths we have enjoyed playing number track games using some very confident counting skills.
We were so excited to spend time with Mrs Guoite, one of our amazing teachers next year during a transition afternoon, and cannot wait to spend another afternoon with her on Thursday next week too.

Summer Term 2, Week 3
What a busy week. We walked to the church to deliver our cards to Father Phillip – we was so grateful for the love and kindness we showed him, noting how this little act of kindness, done with great love, has made a big difference.
Continuing to show our love, we created Father’s Day cards for our amazing Daddies.
We have really enjoyed our Funnybones activities so this week during Buddy Time we made skeletons with straws with them, we are so grateful to have spent some time with them before they move on up to Secondary School.
With the sun shining so beautifully we have got the Duplo out and Niamh built ‘Dursley Rocks’ from Duplo. We hope you all enjoy the festival if you can go too.
Summer Term 2, Week 2
This week we have continued developing our cutting skills designed around ‘Funnybones’ where we have cut out our own puppets for retelling the story in our puppet theatre.
We have been using technology to build our confidence recognition of number formation, and spotting them on telephones and calculators, where we have been typing in numbers – this is also helping us build our fine motor skills – we are determined with our aspirations for Year 1! Alongside number recognition skills we have also been using the song ‘5 little speckled frogs’ to help us build number sentences. Finally for Maths we used positional language to help us place pom poms on our giant butterfly.
To really celebrate our Faith this week, Mrs Daly found a boat in the shed to help us bring to life and retell the story of Saint Peter – our class name’s sake – we also created pebble fish and nets to take home to celebrate the Hope in this story of more people becoming followers of Jesus. We can also be fishermen of men, like in the story.
We have been taking lots of our learning outside too, with construction and pattern painting.

Summer Term 2, Week 1
Shockingly, we are in our final term of Reception and are so excited to move into Year 1.
As part of our transition, we be revisiting some learning and extending our knowledge ready to apply our skills with aspirations and confidence.
During Maths we have been using our RekenReks for ‘one push ….’ games where we subitise the beads and move the amount we say with one push ‘one push 2’, ‘one push 5’, ‘one push 10’. We have are demonstrating high expectations and really impressing the adults working with us at how speedy we are at subitising.
We have been really enjoying our new literacy journey where we have been retelling the story ‘Funnybones’ and writing our dictated sentences.
We have been resilient as we practice our cutting skills and enjoying our 3D junk modelling to create and make.
