Summer 2 2026

Week beginning 15th June

Elliot, Ginny, Bea, Arthur, Jake, James, Ilithyia and Austin blog.

This week has been a bit strange as a few teachers have been ill, but we have show amazing resilience and been the best we can be! Luckily, the teachers worked hard to make disruption minimal so we have enjoyed a pretty normal timetable; just with different teachers!

In Music, we have continued our work on Hindi music. We listened to a Raga and appraised it using technical musical language. We did have a giggle though because we thought it was Mrs Carr singing at first- it sounded just like her!

In RE, we made leaflets about how to treat the Bible with respect. This is inspired by how other religions treat their Holy books too!

In PE, we have continued to enjoy our rounders with Year 6, especially now its not raining so much! We are getting good at remembering to run around the outside of the pitch and not drop the bat. Rounders is full of rules though, so we have much more to learn!

In Maths, we have been continuing our work with angles and shapes. Today we did irregular and regular polygons! A rectangle kept catching us out though- we must remember it is irregular because it doesn't follow the regular polygon rules!

Sadly, District sports was cancelled this year due to rain so we can't update you on how our runners did!

See you next week!
Week beginning 1st June 2026

Year 5 blog

This week we started off with a wonky day as we had a Geography field event! We watched "The World in 100 seconds" and learned about how the land is being used. We then got to go outside, pretend to be pigeons and choose an area that we would like to change use of. It was so fun!

In Maths, we have been looking at angles. We have learned about reflex angles and next week, we are going to be using protractors!

This week is especially special as it marks the start of our transitions. Every Friday from 11-12, we will spend an hour with our new teacher next year. We do this until the end of term! We are really sad to be leaving Mrs Carr, but she has said that Mrs Knight is just like her...just tidier and more organised!

This term is also very special as we are helping the Year 6 with their end of year play. Many rehearsals are waiting for us!

In History we are learning some "secret" history. We are looking at the ancient civilisation of Benin.

In English, we wrote an explanation text about magic shoes! It was really fun coming up with ideas about what they could do, where they come from and how they were created!

See you next week!
Week beginning 8th June 2026

Year 5 blog

This year, some of us have been involved in the Year 6 play as the choir. This week, we had TWO rehearsals- including one in the hall! It is all sounding very professional!

On Friday, Year 3 came to explore the garden with us. We gave them a tour of all the things that are growing; beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, wild flowers, raspberries, parsley, apples, rhubarb...that's just a few things!

In PE, we have been doing Rounders. We tried to play on Tuesday but it started to rain really heavily so it got called off. We did some batting practice on Friday ready for a rematch next Tuesday! Let's hope it stays sunny!

Some of us went to District Sports on Monday to do the field events. We did really well! Sadly, our track events got cancelled this week because of all the rain! It is now next Wednesday. Again, let's hope it stays sunny!

In English, we have continued our work on informal letters. Informal letters are letters you would write to your friends and family!

We have had a really busy week, look forward to seeing what next week brings!
