Autumn 1 2026

Week commencing 31st August 2026

What an amazing first two days we have had in Year 6!

The children have come back to school brilliantly and have already demonstrated our REACH values in everything they have done. They have shown kindness, respect, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards learning, making us incredibly proud of the way they have settled into their new classroom.

As part of our RE lessons, we have spent time learning about our class saint, St Martin. The children thoughtfully created their own prayers inspired by St Martin's values of kindness, generosity and helping others. It has been wonderful to see the maturity and reflection they have brought to these activities.

In art, we did a lesson called "Snapshot - A Moment in Time". The children have used this opportunity to think about their hopes and dreams, both for Year 6 and for their futures beyond school. I loved hearing about their ambitions, with aspirations ranging from becoming vets and footballers to working in childcare settings and helping young children learn and grow. Their enthusiasm and ambition have been inspiring and aspirational.

We have also wasted no time getting started with our learning. In English, we have begun exploring non-chronological reports, focusing on animals. The children have already shown great curiosity and are able to identify features.

In Maths, our focus has been on place value, building strong foundations for the exciting learning that lies ahead this year. The children have approached their work with confidence and determination.

After such a successful start, we are all looking forward to our first full week together next week and the many exciting opportunities it will bring. Well done, Year 6. Keep up the fantastic work!
