Year 4 Spring 2
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely break. Keep an eye on our class blog to see all the exciting things we will be up to this term.

We can’t quite believe it’s the last week of term. We are very sad to see Mrs Hares go but wish her all the best in her move back to Surrey to be nearer family. Mrs Carr has been in this week and we are all getting very excited about plans for next term. Our last week has been celebrating Holy Week, having lots of fun in the classroom and performing a song on the clarinet to the school. We played along to James Brown, I feel good. We hope everyone has a lovely Easter. See you in two weeks!

We’ve had a fantastic week in Year 4. On Friday we performed our dance to Mrs Hares and Mrs Howells and we had Gloucestershire Rugby Club come in to give us a tag rugby taster.

We are not sure where this term is going but another week done and we have fitted in so much. In literacy, we have been learning a story with a theme and thinking about subordinate clauses. In numeracy we have finished our multiplication and division topic and in science we thought about ears and how we hear sounds. We are also very excited to see our radishes and spinach is starting to grow.

What a fun week we have had! We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the activities for science week and we’ve planted our own plants to watch grow. We’ve also been incredibly lucky to have Steph come in to teach us dance. We are really enjoying her lessons. Lastly, we’ve been making our own instruments in science and experimenting with pitch and volume.

This week in Year 4 we’ve been thinking about how sound travels and making our own paper telephones. We’ve also been enjoying gymnastics and in French, Francois came out to help us practise our verbal skills. We’re getting much more confident!

Wow! What a great first week back! We’ve been busy starting our new topics including sound in science, riddles in literacy and multiplication in numeracy. We also started gymnastic in PE and carried on learning the clarinet with Gloucestershire music. This week we also enjoyed Shrove Tuesday in school with a teacher pancake race - Mrs Howells won (Mrs Hares assures us is wasn’t a fix), Lent retreat and World Book Day.
