Autumn Term 1 2021-2022

Friday 8th October 2021
We've had a very busy week in Year 2 this week. We've been singing beautifully in preparation for our Harvest Festival - we even included an echo! Then, we finished the week off with a visit from Jonathan's Jungle. He brought in lots of creatures such as tarantulas, snakes, stick insects and even a gecko! Miss Jones thinks we are so brave to hold a snake that was 1m 50 cm. It took four children! Jonathan then held the snake so that it could smell the backs of our hands with it's tongue - it was really tickly!

What another busy week we've had in St Peter's class! We have worked incredibly hard, especially in our God Matters this week where we have started to learn the story of 'Noah and the Ark'. Miss Jones shared the story with us and we used animals and a wooden boat to retell the story as a group. After that, we made a timeline of events and used this to help us write the story in our own words.

We have had another busy week here in Year 2. In Science, we have been learning about habitats and how different animals are suited to their environments. We then went on to look at food chains, making sure the arrows are facing the right way! Using a leaf, a caterpillar, a small bird and a hawk, we made our own food chains in the classroom to begin with. After that, we went outside and used the natural resources in our outdoor learning area to make the food chains outside!

What a fabulous start to Year 2! The children have settled very well into their new classroom, adapting to changes and a new structure for our school day. The children have lots to feel proud of this week and have thoroughly enjoyed the return of REACH Friday's!
We started our Friday doing PE with Stef and Ollie, learning new Rugby skills and vocabulary. We then went outside and did our first session of outdoor learning, finding things that were alive, dead and things that had never been alive.
