Autumn Term 2 (2022-2023)

Friday 4th November 2022
Today the children did art during their REACH activity. The children looked at what self-portraits are and some examples of famous portraits. They looked at the artist Julian Opie and then created a self-portrait in his style.
Friday 11th November 2022
Today the children learnt all about remembrance day. They learnt about why we have remembrance day and why we wear poppies. They reflected on how they could learn from the soldiers who fought for our country and how they can also help others too at home, school and our local community. The children wrote their ideas on poppies and then coloured them in. 
Friday 18th November 2022
The children had art today. We looked at how we can use different colours when creating portraits to show the emotions the person is feeling. We looked at Picasso's blue period and some other artists too. The children chose a person they wanted to draw and then used the appropriate colours to show their emotions.
Friday 2nd December 2022
Today the children's REACH activity was making Christmas cards. They cut out a christmas tree and then decorated it using colouring pencils and pompoms. 
Thursday 8th December and Friday 9th December 2022
This week in math's the children have been learning all about 3D shapes.
The deepen it task on Thursday was to make a pyramid.
The deepen it task on Friday was to make a building using 3D shapes. The children enjoyed working together to make their buildings.
Friday 9th December 2022
In outdoor learning the children went on a winter walk. They observed the signs of winter by ticking off what they saw on a checklist. They observed the frost, bare trees, ice on the playground, leaves and more. Year 1 wrapped up in their coats, scarves and hats to stay warm.
