Autumn Term 1 2024/2025

Week 5

This week we have been comparing three digit numbers in maths and looking at 6 x 5 in MOT. In English we have begun our unit of poetry, learning how to use similes. Fantastic examples we have had are "as pink as a flamingo" and "as colourful as a rainbow".

In gymnastics this week we went on the apparatus (and took some fantastic pictures too). We had a great time continuing to practice dribbling in football, and even tried a bit of shooting. Our confidence has definitely grown in that area!

In RE, we grew in our faith by thinking about our special objects and pets - whilst considering our Catholic Social Teaching principle of Stewardship. We discussed how we can be stewards of creation by planting trees and helping to feed the wild animals.
Week 4

Year 3 have had a fantastic week despite the technical difficulties we have had to deal with! In Science, we began our plants experiment, investigating what a spring onion needs to grow. We are even experimenting on an onion with no roots!

In gym we continued to look at jumps and rolls. We were getting more and more confident and took some fantastic photos (which will be uploaded soon).

In outdoor learning we went on a leaf walk. Although it was rainy we were very resilient and found some beautiful leaves to make art with!
Week 3

This week Year 3 have enjoyed working on their DT unit of shell structures, practicing cutting, folding and scoring to make a paper dice. We loved playing games with them, and had high expectations when sticking them together. Myself and Mrs Jenkins were impressed with how neat they are.

We continue to love gymnastics, moving in aspirational ways around the room practicing our star pose.

Week 2

What a fantastic first full week back we have had in Year 3! I am so impressed with the focus, dedication and high expectations the children have shown in their work this week. We are definitely ready for Key Stage 2!

This week, we have been retelling the story of The Princess and the Pea in English. We enjoyed practicing our royal wave!

The children have been aspirational learners in Geography, finding Google Earth particularly interesting. Here is the link in case your child wishes to access this from home. As always, please ensure your child is supervised whilst using the internet.

We really enjoyed gymnastics this week, working on our confidence when climbing and performing different poses whilst using our new apparatus. We have some very confident climbers indeed!

Here is what the children have thought of this week:

Mia - I really liked lunchtime with my friends
Poppy B - I liked seeing everyone
Archie - I also loved seeing my friends again.
Jemima - I have enjoyed being challenged in Maths.
