Autumn 1 2024

Week commencing 30th September 2024

It has been another jam packed week for Year 4, with lots of exciting things taking place.

Some activities we completed this week are: Looking at setting the scene in Literacy, thinking about all the ambitious adjectives we can use, always having high aspirations; in our REACH activity we conducted an experiment looking at which environment will make pieces of bread go mouldy the quickest, we all made predictions; we continued to show some super sequences in Gymnastics, going onto the high apparatus demonstrating super confidence; in Outdoor Learning, we went on an Autumn walk around the field and identified all the things we could see, hear, touch and smell.

Excellent work this week Year 4!

Week commencing 23rd September 2024

We are already nearly half way through the term and all the children have been showing great confidence in all they do this week, learning exciting new things.

This week some of the activities we have completed are: Whole School Mass, where the children sat beautifully and sang some lovely hymns; looking at microbes in our reach activity and making our own microbes using clay; showing resilience in Maths when learning about rounding numbers, even when the questions get slightly tricky; classifying animals in Outdoor Learning and Science and looking at Venn diagrams; having high aspirations with our handwriting.

We have had such a fun week and cannot wait for the week ahead!

Well done Year 4!

Week commencing 16th September 2024

It has been a super week in Year 4! The children have been inquisitive learners and shown great resilience when learning new topics.

Some activities we have completed this week are: gymnastics in PE, where children have shown amazing confidence when developing sequences on the apparatus; continuing to develop their atlas skills in Geography; classifying marbles in Science; looking at God’s promise to Abraham in RE; and continuing to consolidate our knowledge on place value, looking at finding 1000 less and 1000 more than a given number.

We are looking forward to having another great week next week.

Well done for all of your hard work Year 4, keep it up! Continue being the aspirational learners you are.

Week commencing 9th September 2024

St George’s class have been very busy this week. They have demonstrated empathy towards their friends as they settled into a new class, whilst also showing high expectations in every lesson and presenting superb enthusiasm and creativity.

A few activities that we have completed this week are: retelling a newspaper report in Literacy; starting our Maths unit on place value where we have had high aspirations; creating Autumnal pictures made from natural resources in Outdoor Learning; and using atlases to identify the different climate zones in Geography.

The children have shown great confidence and we are all excited to continue amazing learning in the coming weeks.

Well done Year 4!
